Hi all, i am a new user on the this forum, and just got my hands on a A900 kit with the CZ 16-35 and CZ 24-70 and a HVL-58 strobe. I just used it to photograph the birth of my daughter on Friday, and i was blown away in every respect. Build quality, ease of use, features etc. I am hanging up my Nikon kit and going Sony as soon as my financing allows for it. The real test will be on New Years Eve, for a very high end wedding im photographing. I will post images from that shoot a soon as i can. Here are the images from the birth.....(sorry if this is in the wrong topic section)

Welcome! We're glad to have you here. It's always interesting to have the perspective of another working professional switching systems to the A-mount. These are wonderful pictures you've shared with us--you have a very photogenic family. Your son, "the big brother" is a spitting image of the bearded fellow with the glasses...I'll suppose that's you?

Hi David - welcome. 35 years ago Minolta loaned me an XM (XK) with some wonderful lenses - 21mm f/2.8, 35mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.4, and the first generation zoom which I am pretty sure was 80-200mm f/4.5 not the 75-200 which followed. One of the first things I used it for was to cover the birth of our first child, though I didn't get to be present at the actual birth; my newspaper shift ended at 5.00pm, the hospital was 20 minutes away, they wouldn't let me leave and I arrived ten minutes after the event.

Tri-X, I remember processing in Microdol-X diluted 1+3 and exposing at 320 ASA (British Tri-X was rated at 400, Tri-X Professional as widely used in the USA was 320 native speed, but this roll was the faster stock corrected for compensating development to handle high contrasts). I didn't end up buying the XM, as the XE-1 appeared not long after and was much better suited to what we were doing.

Thanks for the warm greetings! I have no "official" sponsorship with Sony, although they were kind enough to allow me a free trial period before i go out and spend over $12k in a new full frame sony kit with lenses, 2- body's, and strobes.....try before you buy is a good concept! So far im very impressed, and having been medium format Haselblad shooter for years im so happy to have Carl Zeiss back in my kit! I really missed those lenses.....
