Unless someone can read Korean, we're not sure how they did it, since the mirror sticks through the bayonet.

Perhaps they "sacrificed a camera to science," as it were, and simply disassembled the mirror from the mirror box.

Perhaps it was simulated? They seem also to have access to an a580, farther down in the article.

It can be done, since the cam can do shutter release and record with mirror up. The only problem is the lens bayonet flange, that must be removed. Then they could place the lens and cam close together if they had an appropriate bench. And I believe they have appropriate benches.

You could do it by putting in a extension tube to space the lens out farther so the mirror would clear.

Of course you loose infinity focus if you do that, no free lunch

You know, Walt, I hadn't thought about that. But I wonder if you would still be able to attach a tube with contacts pass-through, given the way the mirror protrudes to the corners of the box. But that could be doable - especially because those test charts are nowhere near infinity focus.
