The MP War still rages

Unread post by paulobro »

Considering all problems, specially noise, related to 10MP APS-C sensors I was thinking the MP War would progress more slowly in the future, settle down a bit and stabilize around, say, 15MP, perhaps 20MP?...

Guess I was quite wrong: news from the Dark Side state a 50MP prototype CMOS sensor sized 19x28mm has been hatched by Cànón. And not only that: they're planning to develop a new file format to replace, or additionally to, JPEG and CR2...

Take a look at

and further links...

No, it didn't. Sad really :-) It could all be a hoax. That's just a photo of a sensor! Could be 6 megapixels for all the pixels I can count on it...

Megapixel madness

Instead of ever more megapixels tit for tat, wouldn't it be nice if camera manufacturers swapped over to the dynamic range issue for a while.
