I was up in the loft today and stumbled across my remaining film equipment.
I've had a selection of "7" series bodies over the years including XD7, 7Xi, 700Si, 7, 7D, A700 and now A77. Just for comparrison I put the 700Si next to the A77 as I thought the newer "7" series bodies were bigger.

It appears that they are deeper but otherwise no bigger. An interesting comparrison.

PS anyone for a Dynax 700Si body?

Interesting comparison Mike. I don't know why the A77 has drawn criticism for its looks - it looks great to me .

I always used to think the 700Si had a good grip but the A77 is excellent.
The A77 materials/skins are far superior to the horrible 700Si plastics.

I'm still not totally happy with the EVF though specifically when trying to use continuous shooting and tracking a moving subject. For single shots it is fine.

Ok let's niggle

No direct access to metering on the body. I'd take off the top LCD and put the main exposure mode dial there, on the left I'd put the exp comp second dial and the drive modes under that. It was perfect before, but someone obviously spent too much time wondering about other makers, then following a design path that worked.

Never liked the si series much odd control layout not really that well designed
