A580 in P mode

Unread post by Ralpheyesight »

I think I have a problem with my A580. I seem to remember in the past that whenever I was in Programme mode I could rotate the dial to go up or down with shutter speed and aperture. now I cant. I am using a mixture of Sigma and Tamron lenses all reasonably new.

Do I have a problem or have i not reset a setting somewhere?

Try re setting the camera back to default and see if it works then.

Is Program Shift back in the 580? I know there was a big thread about it being deleted in the 550. I'm almost never in P mode, unless I forgot to switch it out after letting the kids use the camera, but P-shift is is useful. However, use aperture or shutter priority and you don't have to worry abut P mode. Then you get to decide what aperture and shutter speed you like.

Thanks to you both. I had already used reset. It does not worry me too much but am hoping to sell the camera! I will take a look and see if P shift is part of 580.

Hi,

I just checked with my a580. I am not able to set shutter speeds in P mode. So I think your camera isn't broken.
