HSS @ 1/8000 A700 and A900

I think the cycle time of the shutter doesn't get any faster than around 1/250sec on an A700, for an A100 it's 1/200sec if I remember correctly, (fastest cycle time, starting from rest and returning to rest), so that experiment might not be possible with an A100, or results might not be as good maybe.

I have just tested it with 2 Elinchrom 600RX and it works like a charm from 1/250 to 1/8000

Did the exposure for the same flash power vary once you went above 1/1000s?
I'm struggling to see how this can work...
