Looks like a prototype. and saw it on a macro forum for Nikon cameras. They described the MFG of it and went to their web site.. more Nikon but similar in design so I e-mailed them to inquire about it. It's aparently a Lester Dine who I learned invented macro ring flashes for dental images and it looks like his company still specializes in that vein

Along with a friend we are trying to build such a thing with LEDs. I'll keep you informed of any progress.

well thats got a flash tube in it. they have lots of models just not one for Sony. they have their own macro lens to. a 105mm made by Kiron (sp?)

The one that we are trying to build is a ring light in fact. But a very powerful one. The Sony ring light is very week so we are trying to make a better one, hopefully, but not design wise.
