Wireless Flash Signals

Unread post by Kenneth B »

I've recently started using radio poppers with my Alpha and two flashes. The poppers work great, but on occasion they pick up some radio interference and it causes the flash to pop similar to when you hit the AEL button. I'm trying to capture the codes used to communicate to the flashes. Has any one done this or do you have any ideas how I could do this.

Thanks

The only thing that comes to mind is using a light sensitive diode and an oscilloscope to capture the flashes

That's what I was thinking. I can get access to an oscilloscope I just wasn't sure if a run of the mill diode would respond fast enough.

BTW I'm trying to get this info so they can use it when trying to tune out the interference.

Well you should see the ramp up and ramp down with the diode. the part may add a little overhead to that but same being same i'm sure it's just a diode of somesort in the flash decoding the flahses anyway. even if it's a diferent faster type in the flash you'll still get all the peaks you need.
