Oldish shot of an older Minolta

While looking for a shot of Calanish Standing Stones (http://www.photoclubalpha.com/forum/vie ... 516#p22925) I came across this shot of my wife still using here film (MD?) Minolta in 2004. I think this was during her B&W stage. Since I (we?) got the A100 she has found film a bit faffy (sorry Barry ) especially as the film often seemed to jam requiring a trip to the repair shop and loss of film. She inherited this camera from her Aunt who went over to a film EOS several years earlier.

I coudln't remeber the model so I went and hunted it out at the back of a cupboard. It is a XD-7 if that means anything to anyone. There is a Min 50 1.5 (MD), a Photax-Paragon (?) 28 2.8 (MD), and a Miranda 75-200 (MC). I expect a standard consumer set up for the 70/80s? Somewhat predictably there is a film jammed in it

Clearly I was concentrating in keeping the camera as steady as possible at a very low shutter speed (long time before SSS!) and not thinking much about what I was seeing in the vf.

XD7, that was/is a cracking camera. A top notch body which I had the pleasure of using for around 15 years.
Lovely feel to the body and slick. Mine was a black one.

Hi Mike - no problems - nice to be reminded of this old post.

Spookily I had the XD7 out of the cupboard yesterday. I was investigating old camera bags. I was struck again by how tiny the body is. The A99 feels like a monster next to it, although easier to hold in my hand. The XD7 is very 'slippery' compared to the rubbery modern cameras. I would have to learn a new 'hold' to use it. Now that I have some nice MD glass (bought for the Nex) I am tempted to put some film through it. It is a very nice metal body.

Yes agree re the slim nature of the beast. I had an autowinder on it for my aircraft subjects. but it was still slim.
I added an X500 with a motordrive (MD1) which had a very useful grip and meteoric 3.5fps.

Had a 24-35, 35-70 macro, 35-105, 70-210 f4, 100-300 plus 28 f2.8 and 50 f1.7, all genuine MD lenses and a Tamron 500 f8 mirror.
The 70-210 f4 was my all time favourite.
