Hi Dr

Must be due to the Tamron 2x tele-converter, when I use the 50mm on it's own EXIF show it has a 50mm F1.7 , I guess the 2x is really a 2.1 x tele-converter.

Can't wait to try it on a full moon with my sig 170-500mm, on the a350 it would be a 1500mm f8-9

Can that Sigma accept the tele-converter?

Yep, I have a Minolta 50m 1.7, minolta 70-210 and the sigma 170-500mm they all work with the Tamrom 2x tele-converter , with the sigma focus is very slow.

Don't know how it would work with new lenses, all my gear is over 10 years old :)

Hi Steve - the live view let you get really close to the ground for an interesting angle. Not sure about the bokeh though? Is the teleconverter causing the lack of smoothness?
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.

Not sure, if I get a chance tomorrow, I might try the same shots with out the tele-converter

Technical issues aside (I don't know enough to comment there), I like these. The colors are drab, but nice and natural-looking. I would like to see a bit more earth in the foreground at the bottom of the frame. It helps anchor the subject. Usually I try to include at least enough to be effective or just cut it out and let the subject float against the background.
