Keep the cursor on the text "image" and right click, go to properties, copy the location and browse. It's a nice BIF.

It's too bad #3 is taking extra work to see, but it's definitely worth the work -- a Great Blue Heron in flight, quite close up and personal. All three are very nice, but I like the third best of all (perhaps in part because I've tried to get shots of GB Herons, and they've always been pretty shy, so I've never gotten close enough to show anything like the detail this does).

In case anybody cares, I'd guess the first is a Kildeer and the second a Greater Yellowlegs.

Oh, by the way, let me add my welcome to those you've already received -- it's nice to see such beautiful shots.

No3 link is still busted for me, so me no see....and yes I agree with everyone else, nice clean shots, very good shooting.
I had a bit of a look late last-night in the bird book (local one) and I came up with the Lesser Yellowlegs as the closest I see for No2 (Greater yellowlegs not in my book...but not surprised, yellowlegs are occasional vagrants here), and wading through about 6 pages of plovers for No1, the closest match I could find was a double banded plover and the only difference that I could see was the lower band on the one in the book was a brown colour (breeding) instead of black.

I've looked again at the Yellowlegs picture, and have to admit that I'm quite uncertain about Greater vs. Lesser. The Greater normally has a slight uptilt to the bill, where the Lesser's bill is straight. When I first looked at the picture, the bill looked pretty straight, but looking at it again today, it looks like there might just be a slight upturn...

I've never seen any double-banded plover, so I can't really comment on them directly. About all I can say is that this sure looks like a kildeer to me!

Ah so! Jcoffin, so that's the difference between the greater and the lesser, it's all good, my book only listed the lesser, (I had a look in mine the night before your post) but like it says, it's classed as an occasional vagrant here (not even a continental distribution map for it), maybe if it had had the greater I might even have got it completely right, who said shorebirds are hard, ha ha, no Snipe, Godwit, Curlew, Yellowlegs, Greenshank, Redshank, Sandpiper, Tattler, Dowitcher, Turnstone, Knot, Sanderling or Ruff, shall remain safe in obscurity anymore.
And yeah the plover I'll take your word for it on that, (that it's a kildeer, after all it's your bird) there was one (double banded plover) that was very close in my book, except for the different coloured lower band, maybe it's just a case of different regional names for the same bird.

ps. It's good fun looking in the book for Oz when there are bird photos posted from other parts of the world, often there is a very similar bird listed with only slight differences, of course there are occasions when there is nothing similar at all....like the Hummingbird for instance.
