Hi guys, it's me again... I hadn't really participated in the equipment discussion forums yet, though I'd have to say that I really enjoyed reading them, as I had questions answered just by reading.

I've got more stuff that I'd love to share with you guys - hope you'd like them!

Shooter's note: The title (which is a working title) didn't quite make any sense - as Sonification is the use of non-speech audio to convey information or perceptualize data... But as a working title that resembled the model's own name, it might just work for now.

Hmm might be an acquired taste, the blurred look, the B&W one is not bad except for the chopped off head, but that might be some more of the artsy approach, maybe I'm out of touch....

Hi Greg!

Thanks a lot! These things are quite deliberately done, to be honest, I wasn't too comfortable when I was introduced to this concept and feel a few months ago.

However, being in an art school does have an effect, and for me, this sort of look was a taste that I acquired only recently, so I understood how you feel, and I won't expect people to take that sort of thing that quickly and well - though I can say it was rather fun playing with blurring and doing stuff that I don't usually do, and breaking some rules at the same time (I was thinking of clipping off half of her head and just leaving the mouth).

Now back to where I was before, I was interrupted by an intermittant hard disk fail, (and it had to be the active/primary), had to install new hard disk, Vista, email, backup files and programs.

The thing that occured to me with that art effect was, it might pay to keep the images away from being seen by the model/s, they might not quite 'get it' .....if you know what I mean. Some might not appreciate looking like they've just engaged hyperdrive....ha ha!

ps. But in the name of art you have to sometimes explore the boundaries, expression/concepts, get the creative juices flowing, 'nothing ventured nothing gained' as they say.

I like #2 of the second lot especially. At first it is cool with the hyper-drive thing (is this an official photography term Greg ?), and then you start yo see a series of ghostly faces along the blur - spooky, and I'm sure just waiting for a perfume add commercial. As Greg says, it is good to explore ideas, and it is also rewarding to see the results of other's exploration . Keep 'em coming.

if I wanted to keep the images from being seen by the models... erm... that advice came a couple of weeks late - because I showed her all the blur shots right after I shot them... Thank goodness that she reacted well to those shots and she worked harder for more shots subsequently, and for that I am thankful.

anyway, just for your information, the motion blur effects were created in camera (I just messed with the letterboxing and the colour bending afterwards) - rear sync or front sync flash, shutter speeds of around 1/8 to 1/6, Apertures from around f11 to f14, depending on how strong your light is...

It's good to know how others react when they see you do shots like that... honest words from people who really don't know you too well... When I posted mine on facebook - I do get patronized by friends quite often (i.e. "Good Shots Bro!" x 10 ) - it's the honest words that really put me on track and get my thinking cap on...

Anyways - I always used this angle as a joke in my classes back in my country - regarding this effect and how it can makes someone who normally looks alive - to look otherwise - if they are not careful with their shutter speeds.
