This one is nice too. I find the lighting a little harsh: are you using any kind of umbrella, softbox or so? beautydishes are fashionable these days... I'll probably darker the background in order to bring more drama to the subject.

I agree with Pako on darkening the background. It'll have more impact.
Nice shot Mike (both of them). I like portraits a lot. Back in student days I photographed many students living in the same dormitory (soviet ones, you know, with small rooms like canned sardines...)

by the way would you go for sony 16-105 or 18-250 sigma.

2- haven't tried the sigma, and the Sony one is not bad specially for sunny days.
