Abingdon Airshow 2011

Unread post by DrScottNicol »

My first attempt at fast action shots with my new Sigma 70-300 OS. Very much a learning curve as I fumbled around trying to track the planes / adjust my settings (including a brief period of OS on / SSS on.. DOH!) but several hundreds of shots later, a few nice ones started to appear. I like this one - its a little soft but due to the slightly unusual weather (alternating blue sky / heavy cloud cover throughout the afternoon) it feels like I'm up in the sky shooting down on them (as opposed to the reality of standing in a muddy field whilst my friend moaned about the 45minute queue for the Burger van).

A55, Sigma 70-300mm OS (300mm / 450mm equiv., ISO 100, 1/640s f11, - Processed with DXO Pro 6.5)

Nice shot!

I must say I feel terribly under qualified to post in this thread, with two doctors already!

Impressive, Dr.ScottNicol! : )

Nice graphically also with pink and blue planes against a blue and contrailed background. Nicely composed frame to emphasize the trajectory of the two planes.

I think it's quite a good shot too. Planes aren't terribly easy.

Ha ha, exterminate, exterminate...you will obey, I wonder if those Daleks ever realized they have a strong resemblance to an industial vacuum cleaner
I had a browse through the photos, lots of nice images, I especially liked the quaint little steam tractor.

Lots of very nice aircraft shots through the link Scott - especially like the Vulcan 8)

I think 'Chewy' needs a comb though ;) (Blue Ray out in September!)
