The soft focus was a happy accident. It was pretty dark in the room with only a single light on. I pushed the exposure in post a little to brighten it up to where it is now.

Congrats from me as well. As I TYPE THIS MY 2 1/2 YO IS SCREAMING AT ME BECAUSE I WON'T GIVE IN TO HER DEMANDS! So, you get to look forward to that as well! Don't want to spoil it, just add reality to it. Believe me, having 2, 5, 6, and 14 y/o girls, I know that it's all worthwhile in the end.

There are those days, however, when you think of taking a walk and never coming back.....

Remember to give extra love and attention to your wife during these sleepless times1
