Dimage A2 with Tcon14B

Though this could be under tiny sensor revenge thread, I chose to put it separately since this is a combination of Dimage A2
and Olympus Tcon14B (1.4X converter screwed in front). I was inspired by Henry's thread and had to "dust off" the camera, recharge the batteries and reacquaint myself with the camera. What a gem A1 was and A2 is even today.


This one is natural light shot, f/11 at 1/100s in manual mode.

This one is with flash at f/11 and 1/1600sec. I did not know that A2 could fire flash at this speed in manual mode.

I never had the A2, but I seriously thought about getting one back when it was new. I had the D7i that I bought in 2002 and it was a bit of a revelation having such a small camera that was pretty capable and produced pretty good results. The AF was slow though, I tried to stay at ISO 100-400, and the EVF was not as good as the ones these days. It had that 28-200mm f2.8-3.5 lens and the wonderful tilting EVF though. I didn't shoot raw with it because it was very slow to write to the card, also because back in those days cards didn't have the huge capacity they have now, and the raw processing software was much more of a pain to use back then. I usually used a 256mb and 128mb card with it so I used the best quality jpegs. In 2003 I bought a Canon 300D DSLR so that was the end of small, capable cameras for a decade. It is funny how the Panasonic G3 I bought for my wife last week feels like the decade later replacement for the D7i. Similar size/weight and with much the same sort of usage feel with the EVF. But, the AF is as fast as a DSLR, the EVF is a lot better than the D7i, and the 16mp raw files are much better than the D7i's 5mp jpegs, and I can shoot at much higher ISOs when necessary.

Thank you Henry. I love the controls on A2. I bought A1 and it died on me. So picked up a used A2 on eBay.
I have a custom bracket for A1/A2 for using Tcon300 converter and attach a Tcon14B in addition to it.
