Archtic Circle Tour

These are some photos on the way to Arctic Circle Midnight Sun tour. This tour is held once a year
on Summer Solstice day. It leaves Fairbanks, Alaska, at 4pm and returns next morning around 9am.
You drive on Dalton Highway that goes from Fairbanks Alaska to Prudohoe Bay on Arctic Ocean. Our trip
travels about half way to Prudhoe Bay.

Yes, population of 1. That is Alaska for you.

This one is looking South towards Fairbanks from Finger Point Mountain Look out. The pipeline is to your left and the Dalton Highway is to your right.

This photo illustrates how bright it is around 12.30AM, yes, 12.30 AM on the longest day of the year about 30 miles south of Arctic circle.

Crossing the Circle as the locals cal it. By the the way, the time was around 1AM in the morning.

Great shots Sury. I'm amazed how light it is in those pictures. I like the long shadow picture, and the jumping shot in particular .

Oh, the eccentric joys of being a tourist and all the amusing stuff the locals prepare for them!
Your daughter is making herself and the locals very happy!
Good to see the pipeline in one of your shots and can't help wondering what a population of '1' signifies...the ranger that keeps watch and patrolls?

the last shot remindied me of a the creature called 'Daddy Long Legs'. I think it was a type of spider. : )

Wow a city with a population of one, there isn’t much chance of an expansion in population either come to think of it unless someone else decides to move there I guess…at least there wouldn’t be many traffic lights ha ha. I suppose there is a danger of staying up late when the sun doesn’t actually set…at all, great long shadow shot Sury, and I can’t help wondering about the Arctic Circle marked on a rug that can be moved around? It looks like a bit of a prank too me, or it’s slightly weird, one of the two...good one though.

Greg, you are right expansion of that city. Either expect a "miracle" or someone miraculously move in.
The red mat is due to the courtesy of the tour company. It is not a permanent fixture. I guess it is one
of those things that tourists like.
