And it makes a good rural sculpture abandoned in that field like that.. Nice of you to stop to take the photo of these healthy chicks. The weather is shiny and bright also which also means a happy farm I suppose! : ))

While driving in the countryside throughout the U.S. (I seem to recall it in Canada too) you sometimes see rusty old trucks, tractors, and farm equipment parked in fields next to the road. When it is really old stuff it looks really cool and you want to stop and take a look. It really depends on the age though. When it is, say, 40+ years old it looks cool. A lot of photos I see I feel the same way about. Look at even mundane photos from 40+ years ago of people, cars, and buildings and they are almost always interesting. See the same sort of photo from today and it may seem like a throwaway. Of course, 40+ years from now it may be interesting to people. I find it rather fascinating to see old photos that show the everyday life of people just going about their daily business, the clothes they are wearing, the cars on the street, the signs on buildings, etc. but the same rather unartistic photo taken today might I might not give a second look at. Not long ago I was looking at a few photos I took myself in the 1970s that I never cared for at all, but now they seem quite interesting.
I believe you'll be one of those surviving persons that will have a real 'bank' of treasures in a few years, since you have been taking photos for a long time with a diverse and variable style. The pressure comes from the digital times though, the photos either have to be printed or saved in real good memory disks to keep the treasure undamaged or lost...
Yes, I think about this sometimes. With prints, negatives, and slides a person can be rather passive about preserving them and most will still survive for a very long time. With digital files though you must take an active role in backing them up and copying to new media from time to time to stay up to date with current tech. If you stop doing that though who is likely to do it for you? A box in the attic won't do the trick for digital photographers like ourselves!
