About How The Previous Lily Photo was captured and processed:

Suri, I've attached this shot that I captured this morning. This one has no alterations except for having been saved as JPG from RAW in SDC and a downsizing in Photoshop to comply with forum size/dimension rules.
Although the same light conditions apply to the previous photo, I did adjust Dynamic Range just slightly to acquire a 3D appearance which gives a sense of depth to the elements in the photo. Only a tiny bit of sharpening in Photoshop with Unsharpen Filter tool and only a tiny amount of contrast if the subjects need it.

The A100 and Tamron 90mm work nicely as a combo, if held steady or on a tripod with some consideration/pre-planning for composition.
I definitely believe the devices had everything to do with the results. The warm colors are always flattered by these devices. My Sony video camera also delivers fine shots like these for the same subjects.

Thanks once again and here's the unprocessed JPG. I may not have been as steady-handed for this shot. I hope this information and photo help.

Lively, bright-coloured and very beautiful flowers indeed, Valery. They all look so fresh and lush embedded in deep greens and the fine details are showing how delicate they are.
Suri, that rose has an extraordinary colour and nicely shot but the bunch in the terracotta pot is authentically beautiful.

Hi,

The yellow Asiatic Lilies are about to close their season for this year soon, and I tried to keep a track of their very speedy blooming cycles. In a week's time, no more…

The attached files are taken with my Sony ILCE 6000 and Tamron 90mm. There's a huge difference of colour warmth and bokeh quality with the ILCE 6000; the colours are cooler, paler and less poignant. I processed them in Photoshop but couldn't get the warmth and silky bokeh of A100 and Tamron 90 combo.
I'll test with more frames to see if it's possible to get there by processing from RAW as these were captured and processed from JPGs.

In the mean time, here they are. All critiques are welcome.

These look more like what I usually get from my A99M2. That's why I asked you about post processing.
A small tweak to saturation might do the trick.
I like them a lot as they are, FWIW.

Of course your opinion is very worthy and good to know that others get similar colour schemes with the newer Sony cameras.
I'd like to point out that all light conditions and background colours were exactly the same as for the previous photos. The in-camera JPG processing must be pretty harsh because the brown tiles appear as dark blue-gray instead of the golden brown.
What a difference in-camera processing makes!

Your new flower submissions are very bright and vivid and that Bougainvillae is outstanding. They are all very beautiful.

Visited Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens today.

As always, the 135mm was along for the ride.





For kicks, I tried the Tamron 15-30mm.


Lastly, as some of you may remember, I have been trying to capture motion in wind blown grasses for some time now. This is as close as I have come to translating the picture in my mind into reality. Not sure anyone will get it but...

Thank you Yildiz and JT. The lotus set is amazing. I have been playing with Minolta MD 100f4 bellow, Tamron 60f2 and CZ24-70 in the last couple of weeks. Now I want to use CZ135 after seeing JT's images.

The 135mm is a portrait lens. Take portraits of flowers and you will be fine.
Many years ago I developed a taste for movie soundtracks. One of my favorite musical artists was Maurice Jarre. He collaborated on several movies with director Peter Weir. The list includes The Year of Living Dangerously, Mosquito Coast, Dead Poets Society, and Witness. In discussing Jarre's work on Witness, Weir credited Maurice for helping them build a barn and making the grass dance (breathing life into the grass or something to that effect). That sentiment stuck with me. I wanted to show motion but still contain enough stillness that it wouldn't just end up looking like camera shake.The heavier cattails weren't as affected by the wind as the grass, thus providing some sense of reality. The brown of the cattails fills just the right spaces in the image. More importantly, the motion of the grass is the gently flowing music that Jarre composed.
Probably not a good explanation but it at least provides some intent beyond shaky hands and an incorrect shutter speed.
