Mountain Shots

Sorry for my absence. Sometimes things succeed in distracting me.

Before I posted the link I tested it in Internet Explorer 8 and 9, but that link has been up since 2003 and lots of people have seen it with none having had any problems. That slideshow was generated (I think) by Photoshop (Bridge?) CS2. It has been my experience that Adobe generated slideshows can be somewhat buggy, even in later versions but I was taking the lazy way out... leaving time for other distractions...

It was summer and the sun was shining so it really wasn't that chilly up there. Not to mention people tend to adapt to their climate. Those blue ponds were melt water. It's just a mass of snow and ice so it never really fully melts, which I guess is the definition of a glacier.

What town is that KB? looks interesting, it doesn't seem to have any outlying suburbs.

That's Hot Springs, Arkansas. The sprawl is all off-screen at left.

I had a look at the larger sized photo KB, it looks nicely detailed and composed. The town doesn't look despoiled at all by the presence of the city.

Those are great shots too Charlie, that mountain looks very rocky and bare without all the snow now I guess.

Great dramatic clouds in that view of the Macleods caporip.
Looks like a good trail John for some great views, pity about the haze conditions on the day though. I saw on TV you have to keep a watch out for Pumas in parts over there.

Thanks Greg- That mist actually made it quite beautiful and mysterious in person. I just couldn't make the photo as impressive as it was in real life! I don't know if this area has mountain lions, but either way, I'm glad there weren't signs alerting hikers, because I would have been hiking by myself!

Yes John I reckon the mist would have made the walk more 'atmospheric' I see that photo is sortof against the light, did you happen to get any with the light at your back, and if so was that any better or worse for showing the misty effect?

The photo is definitely against the light.. The opposite view was up the mountain we were on, so not much of a view, just a road and some vegetation. This is the view more or less South from the same location. Not as misty there, but it is still visible. John
