Tom, wonderful photo of your granddaughters! If she goes to the trouble of carrying her book to a concert she will definitely be a life long reader.

That is an understatement. I took that photo six years ago, and she is still definitely a bookaholic. When she was nine, she was given the unabridged Samuel Butler translation of "The Iliad and The Odyssey" as a Christmas gift - at her request. She later commented that she thought Homer's battle scenes were a bit graphic, but that he was a really good writer. Her "big present" wish this year was for an Amazon Kindle so she could more easily carry multiple books.

What I find very satisfying is that even though she almost always achieves the maximum possible score on all of the standardized exams in school, her social skills are excellent and she is very popular at school - which is often not the case for outstanding students.

Continues to be a great thread - here is a shot I took while playing with a MF lens I acquired (CZ 135/3.5). I didn't quite nail the dof as I had hoped, but I still quite liked the shot. The magazine is "Outdoor Photography", and my daugther was obviously chosing a photography based holiday in the smalls ads. section .

There is an old joke that more reading is done in the WC than in any other room of the house. Here is my daughter's 14 month-old son so occupied while his diaper is being changed.

I sometimes give my littlest one (17 mo) a book to keep her occupied while changing her. I'd love to post a shot of that, but if I'm home and she needs changing, it's my job. Something about "I have to do it all day while you're at work!"
