Found a fairly large mushroom today. Almost the size of a socces ball!

Hi Mark, : )

That is an amazing looking mushroom! Almost predatory... : )) I wonder if it's an edible species?

The shape and condition reminded me of a worn baseball glove rather than a soccer ball. :)

Hi Marcell, : )

Wonderful lighting and perspective of a very cute-looking mushroom. It feels like one Gargamel and a couple of Smurfs are going to appear out of nowhere. : ))

Hi Ken, : )

That one is so reminiscent of a fallen dry leaf in colour that it almost is camouflaged most successfully. Nicely found!

Thanks for sharing all,

Actually I'm not sure that these are mushrooms, but I guess they are:

No idea what those are Marcell, but I like both images a lot. I like the way you used the light to create the dark background and luminous subjects. Great work, truly!

Thank you Mark!

I spent the last week in Allgäu and expected more mushrooms but didn't find so many. I will post later some photos of the landscape and the Castles in another topic.

Managed to identify them. Thew are Xylaria hypoxylon. "It is known by a variety of common names, such as the candlestick fungus, the candlesnuff fungus, carbon antlers, or the stag's horn fungus." (from wikipedia)

Beautiful, Marcell. : )

The colour and the details of puffy/creamy look of the one on the left is neat. The bright orange colour is amazing. Does it mean that it's poisonous?

One from two years ago with the same concept. I used sony a100 with a sigma 15mm fisheye lens and a single wireless 5600 HSD flash:

I hope that I get this right. If I've made an error with file size etc - mods feel free to delete please.

It was taken some time ago on Kodachrome 64 then scanned so there may be a quality issue.

Your thoughts welcome.
