Photoclubalpha

Another oppotunity using the 70-300G lens while at the Pedal Prix. A big event where over 200 cyclist from schools, colleges etc. race around a 2.5 km circuit. The race goes for 24hrs so teams are quite exhausted by the end of it, not to mention the parents supporting their children.

We used to produce (not edit, just design and pre-press) a magazine called New Cyclist here at Icon Publications Ltd (photoclubalpha home). They would have loved your pix - but that was 18 years ago now! They featured stuff like recumbent bicycles and ultra high efficiency lightweight bikes for commuting, and pioneered 'sustrans', the sustainable transport system which led to cities having bicycle lanes on major routes. I think the effort put into the 'shells' must provide a lot of craft skills, apart from the physical exercise aspect. The night pic is my favourite I think.

I like #1 & 2. The former, as you said, for the artistry blur, and the latter for its good panned shot.

Thanks again everyone for the comments. David, I didnt really have any knowlrdge of these bikes until one of my nieces attended one of these pedal prixs. The school where my son attends, a parent has been building the bikes with the students for the past 14 years. I'm sure it is a labour of passion but the best part is that he involves the kids with all aspects of the bikes build. They see the whole process from the design , build and then race. It was a wonderful experince for all involved. (Nice to join a forum where people take time to comment and observe other members work.)
