I took with me one A77-2 camera and a couple of inexpensive lenses like SAL35F18 and Tamron SP AF 70-300mm 4-5.6 Di USD on a short vacation to Cuba, just in case ... What happened.

I agree with you, combination A77-2 + cheep DT SAL35F18 - super sharp and very good with AF too. So far between other prime lenses for Sony APC cameras it's the best and not inexpensive. For normal work i most off the time Zoom lenses, but for traveling it's very good light lens.
