On the other day, I was in the backyard with my A99M2 and Tamron 60mmf2 taking some pictures. This hawk flies in and perches on a flower bush. Since I did not want to miss the moment, I started taking pictures with my 60mm at about 20 feet distance. It made no move
to fly off. I took some at 60mm, then went inside and came out with 70-400 took some more, and then had time to put the camera and lens on a tripod and take some shots. All along it would not move. We thought it was hurt, or got trapped in the vines of the bush because after about 15 min. I saw bloody beak and thought it was trying to untangle its legs from the vines. We called animal services and they told us to stay away from it and give it an hour. They heard its cries and said it was a baby hawk learning its ways. It's mother is somewhere nearby. They advised us to leave it alone. It was there for about 45 min. before it flew off.

A bit late in the year for the young ones to leave the nest but...

Nice choices on the cropping.

Juveniles don't know to avoid humans. A long time ago, I was attempting to record my golf swing at the club driving range. This guy appears at the bottom of the range. Of course I stop all of the range goers and walk down and snap this youngster mimicking hiding it's capture.

This is my most favorite capture for the sheer serendipity of the shot. You can see the nictitating membrane in action.
I was so tickled pink with this capture though it has nothing to do with my timing.
