Lovely shots indeed!
The last of the photo-merge is exceptional.

Thanks for sharing, Howard.

Yildiz
Thanks!

Not my strongest suit playing around with Photoshop, but I had the sequence in camera and eventually figured out away to get the bigger backdrop as well as the bird taking off.

I did not realize the last one is a photo-merge till Yildiz brought up.
Nice job, Howard.

I am jealous Valery. I still don't get sharp pictures with my 500f8. Master that lens in 2021 is my goal. :)

Nice shots Valery!

I've been bogged down with work and haven't had a chance to get out to do any photography, so here are a few from my archives. :)

Great captures Sig. Hmm. Looks like I need high shutter speed, even if iso is boosted. Let me give it a try.

I got about six or seven blurry shots until I stop engine in the car and put the camera on frame off open window...

Some landscape with 500F8 :)

Definitely need a very fast shutter speed if shooting handheld with this lens. The lens' physical length is short but it has a very long focal length. The slightest breath or sway will blur the image. I mostly shoot at 1/1600 or higher. At 1/1600 or slower, I try to brace myself against a wall or a tree or a fence (or a car :) ), or even drop to a knee and then exhale (like a sniper) just before clicking the shutter, in order to reduce any chance of shake. OR, if you don't mind carrying around a tripod or monopod, use one of those for slower shutter speeds.

For me, the "magic hour" for creating art with this lens is at high-noon on a sunny Summer day. My favorite subjects are the ones that have a lot space between them and their background, which is being flooded with copious amounts of bright sunlight. 8) However, here in the midwestern US you pay a price for being out at noon in the summer. You get baked by the sun. I'd say it's like being in the desert but we have high humidity which is stifling. You have to be sure to drink lots of fluids while you're out. If you're not careful you could get heatstroke. Worse yet, your sweat can get all over your equipment.

Valery,
You are killing me, I mean motivating me.
That is one heck of a shot. Love the B&W effect.

Sig,
Thank you for the suggestions and validating my inference.
Now I am on to some experiments. :D

Sig and Valery,
Excellent shots with that lens. I really need to hone my technique with that lens.
Thanks for being the source of inspiration, both of you.
