When ignorance is bliss....

I have a 60mmf2 Tamron macro lens and has been wanting one with longer focal length. I have been chasing a Sigma 180f2.8 for few years and could not find one cheap enough for me to buy.

I have been using other means to get the magnification (CUL set, tubes, reverse mount etc) but never obtained a good quality image.
So recently I acquired an used Minolta 100f2.8 macrolens for $165 on eBay. I knew I was getting an excellent lens with Minolta colors, also used widely as a portrait lens but what I was ignorant about was that this lens is capable of 1:1 magnification and that too with auto focus. That realization put me in a blissful mode. All of them were shot at f32, with some flash on. The camera was on a tripod. One flash was on camera and the second one was remotely triggered.

Nicely done. It's a fine piece of gear.
Good thing you had a black background. That kind of f stop will show any dust on the sensor.

JT,
Thank you. And it did. I know I have some dust on the sensor. The local shop I usually take it to is not open yet.
A little LR tweak took care of it.

.

Sury, good luck with the new gear! :D
The lens sounds like fun. The 1/1 magnification is an adventurous part of these lenses. Enjoy.

Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz

Yildiz,
Thank you. I need to start doing few other things with the lens like portraits and landscapes. All in due course. :D

Here are two examples, one with flash and the other without. You can easily guess which is which.

These two are with one flash on camera and the second (Adorama FP) triggered optically over the flowers. Two different positions for the remote flash.

Just saw these shots Sury. And I am jealous of your lens. Looks like it was a great find. And I really like these last two pictures.
