The alligator shots are really good, Sury.
As you said, a zoom lens would have produced better photos of the birds...

Yes. The Komodo dragon was inside in a not so well lit room. So I resorted to HDR, a technique that came to my rescue not only
in bright light, even in the dim lit place (who would have thought).

Thank you. So far on the tour I was very happy with my lens choice. Soon I started to regret not having my zoom, but took help of high speed shooting on A99M2. I was impressed with the speed with which it locks on moving target. You can my other thread.
42MP to rescue not good, just good enough.
