Recently I read an article on using reflectors and bought a $30 5-in-1 40 cm hand held reflector.
I tried it on my daughter who is back lit in this example with golden reflector illuminating her face.

This is my wife and no reflectors. She is back lit and I happened to be on side. I wish I used reflector for this shot.
