We're heading home tomorrow and so this is the final installment. All with the Tamy 17-50/2.8, and tripod.

Loch Bracadale. A last chance to wander across the croft land around the in-laws house.

The Cuillin dominate this part of the island. This is the first time the peaks have been visible this week.

Just outside Glen Brittle there is a lovely waterfall that I have missed in previous visits.

Birma, these are lovely! I noticed the ISO was 80 and found myself green with envy...the a700 only goes to ISO 100. You have been posting some excellent landscape photos lately...please, get an a900 quickly! My faves here are the second and third. I love that line of trees marching over the hill.

Birma, what does "Final Part" mean. Come on... now that you were posting the best pictures for this week (BTW, why don't we have a separate topic of "Best shot of the week"?), and you're stopping? No way...

The landscape provides many layers of natural warm colours, especially the layering from the dry grass to the hights of the hills, then to the peak is delivering quite a range...

Hope 2009 will come with many extra weather changes so you can shoot many more different ones...and maybe even an 18 month old Matilda silhouette next time. This can turn into a tradition..

These are beautiful -- I especially liked the shots of the waterfall. All of them are simply gorgeous though.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments . We are all safely back in Worcestershire now with a pile of washing and unpacking to do. I will try and see if I can tease out any more shots from the hard disc Doc, but I think the best are already there.

There is a saying that when you leave the Hebrides, you leave a piece of your heart there (metephorically!), and this keeps drawing you back again, and again. I am already looking forward to the next visit.

Sadly no new single malt purchases, but happily quite a bit was drunk . Nothing like the taste in front of a real peat fire. I did re-stock on beer from the Isle of Skye brewery; I recommend Black Cuillin, a dark porter style brew. As someone commented to me while I was there "you can't buy shoes or underwear on Skye, but they have two breweries and a distillery".

#1 and #3 make it for me - outstanding of a very high level series. in #1 I like the sense of space and the openness of sky, with the colors just in the right balance to avoid 'kitsch' by being too sweet. #3 profits from the clear shapes, giving detailed foreground, leading lines through the middle and a clearly contoured background, all in a wonderfully harmonic color set where the purer blue is almost non-existent.
The waterfalls are no slouches, either, with the first one winning over the second one - for me portrait format here is more appropriate.

Many thanks Markus, I really appreciate your comments. I really love the Hebrides, and its a regular holiday location. This of course leads to the risk of treating it a bit like a collection of holiday postcards, so I'm glad I have avoided being too 'kitsch'. I always hope to do something a bit different when I go; photos of people, B&W, gritty portraits. But, then I get there and I sink quickly in to just staring at the wonderful landscape .

Birma, can I ask you to change the subject title by just adding at the end "of Chapter 1" (That is: Final part of chapter one). I would be glad if you didn't stop here.

That's a nice set of tranquil scenes Birma, I liked all of your photos actually, it's good too see views/landscapes so different from one's own.
