Honolulu Marathon when it's over

Unread post by bakubo »

The annual Honolulu Marathon was held on Sunday morning and the finish line is at Kapiolani Park. I walked over there at 8:30 and took some shots with my A700 and then went back at 11:30 and took some more shots with my Canon A590IS digicam. Last year there were over 25,000 people from Japan running in the marathon, but this year it is a bit over 13,000. Of course, most of them are here with family and friends so there are lots of Japanese around Waikiki the last few days.

Here are a few and more can be seen in the Hawaii/Hawaii 5 folder on my website (photos 1-20 are from the A700 and photos 21-46 are from the A590IS):

I like the B&W shots. Can't say why. They have a beautiful appeal. well, sort of...

Thanks, Don. I was out walking around at the beach this morning (it's 11:00 AM now) and just got back. Nice day. I have been using the A590IS a lot lately (and A540 before that) since it is always in my pocket (side pocket of my cargo shorts).

Thanks, Doc. But, what do you mean by "sort of"? :) Although I haven't shot any B&W film (or any film) in years, I shoot digital in color and then convert to B&W on the computer a lot. I like B&W too. Just for grins, here is the color version of the shot above:

You know, with all the talk about how the A900 has a rather smooth roll off of highlights, sort of film-like, I started thinking that the A700 is also not so bad in that regard. For example, these:
