Admittedly as a man of kent I'm biased but you'd go a long way to find as good a set of beers than these. Taken at the end of a brewey tour at the Shepherd Neame Brewery at Faversham with a sony a200 and 18-80 zeiss (for obvious reasons I didnt want to risk the A900!!!)

They all look a bit dark to me So, if that's your choice as a man of Kent, what would a Kentish man choose?

(don't expect this one to be understood - even I am not sure of the difference, when I know there is one!)

David it depends which side of the medway you are born evidently. But as Shepherd Neame pubs are all over Kent then its not really a problem!

If you are ever down this way I recommend the Spifire brew although as a Scot it may not be your drink of choice of course. The ad campaign for it was excellent ("No Fokker comes close" was one of the posters...) My personal favourite is the porter as determined by a prolonged tasting session

Our local has guest ales (one or two) changing every week, so I get to try a wide range of excellent beers which I completely forget the names of - mainly English, but a good number of Scottish keg brews as well. Last week they had something called 'Yule Ale' for Christmas, but no way similar to the Yule Ale with orange and cinammon and stuff in it found in Scandinavia (and USA). More just a.n.other decent beer.

At the risk of (justifiably) being accused of hijacking the thread, perhaps I can nominate an alternative lineup for those of us whose taste runs in a slightly different direction (carefully resisting the temptation to say: "for those of use who have taste" ). As with the original post, I tried to keep this at least somewhat regional.



The apparent distortion is really from the two center bottles being forced into too small of a box, not from the lens. The lens (28/2.8 @ f/11) isn't that bad. Then again, I'm pretty sure the green cast in the label on the bottle of Cask 23 is from CA, not the lighting or the label itself; the lens isn't particularly stellar either.

I have a vague memory that in Anglo-Saxon times the Men of Kent held the right to form the right hand end of the battle formation, the right hand (un-shielded) end being the most dangerous and therefore held the most honour. Perhaps the fine local brews helped stiffen their resolve ?

While we're going all Anglo-Saxon, perhaps it's appropriate to wish "Wassail" to everyone.

LOL There speaks a citizen whose country is to beer producing as the UK is to space exploration. When you have 300 years of wine producing expereience then we will compare products! In the meantime cheers - I will be be enjoying both grape (from a variety of countries) and hop this Holiday
