First shots of the new year

Happy new year to all.

As it was a nice day on New Years day we went for a walk along the Quayside at Blyth near us, not the best light photographically but there were still a couple of photo-ops

The river was pretty calm and quiet (it is a working port so normally there is some river traffic)

There are a lot of small boats around

For my third and final image, a 5 image stitched pano looking up river

All shots A700

Thanks Doc, looking back over my images I seem to be drawn to boats although I've never owned one.

I've also edited the post as the first two were links to images that were slightly too wide to display properly, they look better now.

Hi Murph - I totally agree that you can't go wrong with shots of boats :D I like #2 best, probably something to do with the red boat and the blue structures in the background. The pano looks great. How did you manage to get the slight ripples in the water to match up?

Thanks Birma,

The matching of the ripples etc is down to the magic of PTGUI and the smart blend plug-in I use with it, the two work together really well and often blend things that I thought would be fairly impossible.

Hu Murph

I'm using PTGUI, what's the smart blend plug-in? I find PTGUI works really well, where I have had some problems it's with really tall building, that where shot from a close distance.

I like all your photos :)

Cheers, Stephen

If not told I would be thinking this was a "normal" wide angle shot.

Hi Stephen,

Smart blend is a plug in for PTGUI which helps create seamless transitions between the stiched images,

the Wicki is here:

http://wiki.panotools.org/SmartBlend" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is also a link there to the download.

Lovely pics.. boats are always a winner.. I have done some night shots at a harbour with boats.. stark contrast to your lovely blue hues..
