I like the second. It leads your view toward the people climbing/descending.

I like the shot with the people. In fact, it's a shot I would like for the Photoworld magazine gallery (email to [email protected] - file 2300 pixels wide). I need some subjects like this which can inspire people at a fairly dark and foggy time of the year, and this is a great example of how a night shot can be really different. Any better variations of course welcomed!

I think both are great and bring across a nice foggy atmosphere!

Not so keen on that - looks like a deep space shot, but it does not have the same atmosphere or feeling of place.

I like that second shot too. I tried pics of snow infront of street lamps also and didn't like them much.. glad to see someone else made a better go of it but I think it's still needs something else.

Thank you for all your comments.
The lamp pic with snow is nice picture but I agree with you that anything is absent in it. When I took this shot I was on the ground.
I thought to take the photo from the equal height of the lamp to represent some other things which were at the same height to give a depth, but unfortunately I failed because there was a intense snow and I couldn't get on the roof of our house!
