So I dusted the 105mm macro lens this weekend and caught some bugs and like..

All are very good Robbie,

I like them all but the little guy in the last photo looking directly into the camera seems to be 'smiling' with that giant curve to his mouth and won my sympathy! It actually looks like a happy little fellow...

The bug in the second photo is also interesting to me as I never saw one in real life and the details are nicely captured.

ps2. Are you catching them in their wild environment and bringing them home to photograph, because they all are on the same type of plant and there is a wall in the background?
ps3. How do you pursuade them to come your way so easily, they look very tranquil and happy to be cooperative? Do you sedate them?

Nice work Robbie, an interesting series of shots. It appears that the limited overs cricket is shaping up to be an interesting series also!!

I catch them in the garden outside the house with a butterfly net. I cut some leaves off a bush and placed it on the kitchen table.. No, I don't sedate them but when you place them on the leaves, they move around for a while and then they actually sit still for a few moments. This is when you have to be fast.. I used the flash on wireless and took as many pics as I could in the short space of time.. focus is manual and not very easy to be accurate.. also the bugs are very small.. actually even the frog was only the size of the tip of your small finger.. I also was very lucky with the fly.. she was laying babies and when I managed to put her in my hand, within minutes my hand was full of them.. this is not the best picture of this but wasn't so easy to have fly in hand and to do everything with only othe hand to take pic.. but still interesting..

I'ts always interesting to see some decent macro shots, that frog shot is a corker, everything in focus, top shot. (but then I like froggies anyway)

haha Dusty, I didn't have to worry.. my wife took care of it all.. after all it was her kitchen..

Excellent shots - the frog one stands out for me.
