The lighthouse is probably one of the most photographed in the UK, but I still love it

The second one is way better.

Paul, your use of colour and tone is exceptional. It does not matter that your repeat subject matter, the varied treatment is a joy.

These are just beautiful images, and 50 % because of your skill with image gradation and hue.

Keep it up, brilliant.

I like that you gave us two views, but like the Doc, I prefer the second. It could be a simple matter of processing as the only real difference I can see is color saturation. They are lovely, and I really like the long exposure times and what they do to the waves.

That second one is possibly the best one I've seen you do Murph, and that's saying something.

ps. minor quibble, (I would like those black posts to contract Stihl's disease at some point, seems as though they are a bit of a nuisance, looks like the best angle/composition also has to include them)

Hi Paul,

I like them both for different reasons. I like the odd elements like the drift plants or algae, rocks, boulders and even the dark posts, somehow they make the photos more real and less sterile.

I feel I'm getting very familiar with the coastline in your vicinity. It's a beautiful place.

Thanks for the comments, the light sometimes on the coast is just so good.

Hope you dont mind another from the same shoot, this was just as I was packing up (2 reasons, the pastels had almost gone and the battery was on empty - little yellow sign came on and I didn't have a spare - doh!).

This is a little further round the small area of beach, to put the old stathes in a better position, but you don't get the waves on the rocks from this angle.

Again, beautiful! You're spoiled!

Everyone in Europe is spoiled when it comes to photographic opportunities. All they have to do is walk down the lane, or at most to the next village, to see something that was built hundreds of years ago!

As opposed to the European tradition of family homes being occupied for many generations, we yanks have always had a habit of tearing it down, sometimes for the most inane reasons! I live 45 minutes from Daniel Boone's last home. The only one still standing. The reason? On the frontier, nails were forged by hand and quite pricey. Whenever he moved, he loaded up the wagons, burned the house, and searched through the rubble for the nails!

Even New Orleans, which has (even after Katrina) some of our oldest standing structures, pales in comparison to Europe.

Beautiful picture.

The colours of the sky are very nicely captured and the picture is not overprocessed. You guys have a wonderful lighthouse there.
I perfer the 2nd picture in the first post, just because of the smeared water, looks like a painting.
