I started heading west a few weeks ago on our long road trip. We left Utah yesterday and are in southern Wyoming now heading towards Grand Tetons National Park and Yellowstone National Park. By the way, I read one time that the Grand Teton mountains were named a long time ago by French-Canadian fur trappers. It means Big Teats. You can see some of my photos in the Utah gallery:

The first ones were made on earlier trips, but the second half or so were made in recent days. Here are a few samples

Great work Henry, that last one would look awesome at a large size I reckon.

ps. I would have been tempted to do a couple of portrait two or three shot pans as well...with that spectacular scenery.

Check the gallery. There are some verticals there. I made a couple of panoramas at Bryce Canyon in 2004. I just made quickie stitching with Panorama Factory and I need to redo them with more care to remove a bit of ghosting.

Rest assured, Doc, I would love to visit Armenia. Just to be clear to everyone, if I haven't yet visited your country, state, or area it is definately *not* from lack of desire! My favorite verb in the English language is go.

Looking at your Utah Gallery Henry, I see you've ferreted out some 'new' really cool old buildings, I find myself wondering what Western they appeared in,
I was having trouble with a couple of images for a second, then I realized what I was looking at...a reflection of trees in the stream running through the snow...ha ha you got me there, the actual trees weren't visible...
And some great images of/from the badlands, some of them sort-of remind me of somewhere....

Yes, the countryside in Utah is full of really cool old, abandoned, dilapidated farm houses and barns. Unlike in the southeast, the color of the wood often turns a golden brown rather than gray. I don't know if that is because of the type of wood or the very different conditions in Utah (high elevation so stronger UV and dry). I could have spent most of my time just stopping along the road taking photos of these old houses and barns. I missed tons.

Yeah, this part of the country has some big canyons. You want to see a really big one though? Check out the Grand Canyon.
