Just messing about, went out to get a few shots for an artist pal.
I forced myself to shoot a few on digital Light was pretty decent, I tend to head out later in the day

Just make me wish I was there!

Hi Greg, no I didn't notice that, thanks for pointing it out.

This part is the "Gap of Dunloe", the entire area is a photographers dream, but also the weather is very odd in Ireland. Hence sometimes you go out and it goes horrible, aka forget colour photography at times. This place and the others has been heavily photographed, and painted too. But most folks head out at the wrong time, noon and afternoon..I won't even take the lens cap off at such times

Hey Barry, I forgot too ask about Al Capone...that's his 'on the way to prison' photo you're wearing....http://www.alcaponemuseum.com/....umm why him? he's not a particularly savoury character, unless, he was actually a good guy that got a raw deal......hmmm nah....I don't think so

I had a few ready, JFK, Richard Nixon, etc. Just ran out of ideas..so I picked someone who would seem to reflect a bit of personality! I don't know Capone is not that bad, no worse than most politicians anyway.

Any good ones fire away, I am all ears!

I was wondering about that as well. I thought it was either to show Barry with a cheery smile on his face, or if it was to scare Sony in to sorting things out, or he was going to "send the boys around" . Either way, it's a good avatar.

More importantly, lovely pictures Barry - I especially like #2. I haven't been to this part of Eire since my honeymoon, but it is certainly a place that inpsires the heart, to saying nothing of photography/painting.

I've always thought ALF...remember ol' Alpha from the TV series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ALF_(TV_series) would have made a good one, surprisingly I don't think anyone ever used it.

I have a few more for you to look at, and I will see if I can whip together a panoramic, I have a few shots that might make it.

Thoughts and comments as ever welcomed. I would be lying if I said this was not a hugely impressive place, no one photo could ever convey the sheer scale of the place. Exposures can be difficult as well. A200 copes rather well with pulling up shadow end in raw, has to be said.

Barry, I have read many of your posts and benefitted.
But I benefit most when you post images. Please take more and post them.

I was trying too find out who BF's new avatar was before replying...I thought it might be a confederate general...but I couldn't find a similar photo anywhere, so I'll have to admit defeat on that one...I guess you would like a preference on the Gap series Barry? for mine it's the original one by a narrow margin...their all nice scenes actually.

Not sure which one I prefer, maybe the vertical one with the rocks is stronger, though I am never satisfied with my results in many cases, the light can always be that bit better

And surely the 2nd best known confederate general of the war behind the obvious "Granny Lee" (large doses of ken burns works wonders at times)
