Why thank you! I liked the trans mercator projection because it looked like my favorite M. C. Escher lithograph, "High and Low."

This is a panorama I made a few days ago with 5 frames. It is overlooking the town of Onomichi, Japan and part of the Seto Inland Sea seen from Senko-ji (temple on top of the hill):

Lovely picture Henry - a very detailed scene and I love the rugged hillsides with the town nestling on the slopes. Great lighting as well.

Everything Birma mentions about the way the city is situated on the archepelago is seconded! Nice sky and clouds too, which probably aided the good lighting of the city, hence the well-defined details.

Hi Birma,

I like the A850 the same way I like the A700: both are very similar cameras, but the A850 is just a little bigger, outside and inside. I wish I had it last April for my trip to Peru...

Actually, I was waiting for an affordable FF since I got my first digital camera (a Dimage 7Hi) because the most of the times I use wide angles or small teles (from 24 mm to 100 mm) and that, on APS format means using a super wide angle, with all the cons that involve plus the fact that a 35mm on APS have a similar angle of view as a 50mm on FF,but it doesn't look the same -the 35mm will deform a little: I do mostly events and most of my female clients don't like that "effect".

The only problem is that I have a couple of lenses that works beautiful on the A700 and I'm not yet convinced that it performs the same way on the A850. I have to go out and shoot more, but from now until the end of the year I'll be working from Sunday to Friday at the photolab. BTW, I have to go now...

You live in the most wonderful place - been there twice and will go again.
We were lucky enough to witness the Aloha Festival in Sep06 - quite an experience.
Spent many a late afternoon in that water and still use our room view on my desktop.

Any idea why it's called "Kapahulu Groin"?

You are trying someting new in these panoramas; creating more curvelinear blending from rectilinear real structures. I enjoyed the first better than the second photo for extending both vertically and horizotally, hence covering more. The only misfit in the first is the sudden vertical cutting of the clouds to the left of the sky space. There probably was a strong wind that shifted the pattern of the clouds sooner than your sequential shooting... : )
