Two images that encompass a day

First one daybreak at Tynemouth - the colour was poor due to cloud cover, but the light was good so I felt monochrome suited this picture



Second one sundown a bit further along the coast, a photographer in the wild - sorry didn't get what camera he was using

Lovely light again. It rarely gets inland for Kelso. We thought it was a very ordinary day last Sunday, but went to the coast briefly - and it was not an ordinary day, it was lovely and had been all day. 20 miles can make a huge difference.

Very nice. Thanks for posting. I guess if I had to choose I would say I like the first one the best, but the last one is very nice too.

Lovely Murph. I think number 3 just pips it for me. I like the colours very much. Have you used some sort of HDR technique on that one? I haven't been through the photoclubalpha back catalogue but have you posted this lighthouse before? Better colours this time I think.

I like the first one the most - I always have been a morning person - but all three are great. Nice Work.

I just thought I would post a mix - I have shown the lighthouse a few times, its very photogenic and only about 3 -5 miles away so a good place to go on a nice evening. I am not sure if I've posted that exact pic I don't keep a strict record, although I try not to re-post old images as I think that gets boring very quickly.

No HDR technique on the lighthouse, just good light, ND grad, polariser and a bit of PP.

Can't decide which one. All are great.

Nice compositions, but they are all too over-processed for my taste. HDR can be a neat effect, but these seem a little heavy-handed.

All tastes are different, that's part of what makes photography interesting and its good to see honest opinions, I just want to say that these are not HDR or even pseudo HDR, all single shots and only a little PP, mainly on the shadows as the primary exposure in each case was biased towards the highlights.

The shadows in the middle shot were particularly dark in the original exposure and I left the blue hue as I thought it contrasted well with the orange/red sky.
