Here are some pics of sunflowers which I took during my last trip..
I wish I were taller than 2m to be able to show the plant's size properly
We hadn't time to stop and go to the higher altitude place to capture all the plant

The first one is nice, and I would better shut up for the second and third

I tried to compensate the lack of my height by jumping and putting the shutter speed higher but frankly I like previous posted ones more

This is why Sony DSLRs now all use the wireless remote control. You just pick a large sunflower, attach the camera to the flower, hold the sunflower up with the camera attached in one hand and fire it with the remote.

Of course, a tripod will do just as well...

This is not a joke really. An extend support pole with over 3 metres range can be fitted with a camera mount (ball and socket). The A300/350/330/380 is mounted on it with the Live View screen aimed down. The image can be composed fairly easily even with the tiny screen. Fire the camera using the remote, or get an assistant to fire it. Anything much longer than 3m and two hands will be needed to hold the camera up so the assistant becomes vital.

With an HDMI video cable, the new A330 and 380 can relay the live focusing to an HDTV monitor and it would be easy enough to mount one on a much higher skypole.

I've had a couple of tries at using the A100 on top of the monopod held high overhead and it seemed to be a quite an ok concept, you need too lower the camera down to have a look at the shot (no angle screen) and try again if your not happy with the result (shots that include vertical objects and/or an horizon present a challenge, very easy to get a wonky horizon)...only thing is the short cable remote isn't long enough so I had to get the long one.....must have another try sometime.

I tried some today with 6ft of Benbo monopod. A little 3rd party remote proved better than the Sony for triggering. The screen was so dark it really could not be seen against the bright sky. Then the battery ran out Only the A330/380 can do this with the remote and the angled screen. With the screen brightness set higher and maybe some kind of hood to stop the sky brightness overwhelming the eye it could be viewed.

I ran out of power just when I was lifting the camera with 18-55mm set to 55m up to the top of a bush to photograph butterflies I can't get to!
