As it happened, I was working one of my last overnight shifts as the new year came in. That morning, heading home from work at 7am, I headed down to the river to see what, if anything, was stirring there beneath the setting moon.

But you should've separated the third from the first two, it's not from the same bunch. imho, that is
The first two have symmetry, reflection, pictures divided in equal symmetric views, while the third has a very interesting "rule of third" in it. Very nice, but not to go along with the other two.
Kevin, why don't you post bigger shots?

I had my reservations about the third shot, as well. The setting full moon on the dawn of the new year seemed special enough, and it was the best one that I got. All three were shot from the same bridge over the Trinity River within minutes of each other, but the river in that shot is conspicuously absent.

I like the soft quality of light in the pictures. I like #2 with the swimming bird best, I love the reflections and textures in the water.

Thank you Birma! That one was my favorite of these three, in fact, I'd go there more often just for shots like that one except that it was VERY early and VERY cold.

That bird looks like a shag, (cormorant), we have a similar one here, boy they must be tough there, diving in almost zero water temp to catch dinner.
