Bird at Osian (Jodhpur, India)

A bird that I found this January at Osian (Jodhpur India). I don’t know the name of the bird / species.

I'm thinking Black Sholdered Kite, your version has a lot more black on the wings than our one, but I think it's the same bird, just regional variations. That one and the Letter Winged Kite and maybe the Black Kite can hover almost exactly in the one spot in the sky regardless of wind fluctuations, it's amazing to watch.

A friend suggested:
"it seems it's a Black-winged Kite - Elanus caeruleus. The name Black-shouldered Kite (Elanus axillaris) only refers to the Australian species."

Hi Arun - a lovely picture of the kite. Personally I don't mind the mirror lens' bokeh rings.

In fact I have found after I have used that lens for a year, that I don't get the rings so often and also when they do appear they are not always that distracting as they are reputed to be. Sometimes, I do feel a bit of softness and then at times the pictures are sharp enough. On the positive side, it is a little lens with a far reach and can be flicked out in a moment.
However, I am certainly going to have 70-400 if I keep on sticking to Sony.
