Today I’ve three landscapes for you from my archives. Each one of them represents different season (except winter). I hope you’ll like them.

Spring – snow has disappeared except for higher mountains


Fall – the time when trees are painted by sun


Summer – I miss those warm sunny days

The moods are captured in each reflecting the seasons accurately, nice.

I'm sad to see those big round bales of hay Hawk! In the 1980s I visited Austria and the hayfields were still being made into hayricks on wooden posts, like big shaggy wigs. In Scotland in the 1970s you could see the same thing. Then they got square bales, and today they just have these huge rolls - in our grass fields, they immediately wrap them in black polythene to make the grass ferment and produce silage for animals feed.

The old hayricks were much more photogenic!

Lots of people still use wooden posts for hayricks here David, especially on smaller fields. They even do all the work by hand with no machines at all. On my bike trips I sometimes see whole families working on fields with hay. Not in city of course You just have to go 10-15 kilometers away from my city to see places when time seems to flow a bit slower, people are kind and respect traditions of their ancestors. Most of such places would indeed be very photogenic, but are "ruined" with asphalt roads, power lines, modern homes...

You are so lucky to be living in such a beautiful part of the world and the segments and moments captured are very 'telling' of the prolific natural environment that surrounds you.

The cascade of hills and mountains deserve a good horizontal panoramic take while the colours of the latter ones are very vivid and attractive....

Hi Hawk - all three are lovely shots but I like #2, with the colours and the water reflection, the best. However bad the giant straw rolls are, they look even worse once wrapped in black plastic. I have seen some quite nice photographs of the rolls (before they are wrapped up), using the close-up texture of rolls. I'm sure one was on this forum (or linked to it from here), but may be not as I can't find it now. (It was in B&W.)

Yeah I agree, three nice rural seasonal windows, I think I like the alpine one with the mountains in the background the best.

ps. They do the same here, make large rolls accross a field out of the grass, then they transport them off to places far away that haven't had much rain in the last few years, Im not sure what is more cost effective, ship the cattle to where the feed is, or ship the feed to where the cattle are.

Here they put rolls into white plastic, not black one. Sometimes bunch of snow white rolls look quite funny on green fields. I have them on 3 or 4 photos, but haven't managed to get good looking one.
