Hi

Here is my first and to my opinion successful IR shoot.
I tried with variety of lenses but the Doctor's 28mm minolta on my A700 accompanied with 720 nm IR filter showed the best results
for know. I will be trying to capture more and more to expertise in IR, but I would like to make some comments how do yiou like my shots
and what would be better to improve.

Very interesting Armen. As the Doc says, its looks like an alien landscape. Have you tried converting to B&W? Can you share the exif details? I'm looking forward to seeing more of your IR shots. I think I am going to get a Cokin slide-in IR filter, probably 720nm, to start with. I am just looking around for the best price at the moment.

Armen- congrats on your first successful IR! I too would like to see it in B/W, but Ihave to admit that I prefer B/W IR anyway. Keep honing the technique, so that when spring comes around, you will have it down pat. John

It is like new kind of adventure. I simply like fantastic things
Concerning the images do you know the way that flickr dowsn't convert the images to standard size?
I upload with better qualities but flickr always fits to its size.

Well, they indeed look fantastic and other-worldly. More like Martian landscapes..

Sorry, no, I don't know how flickr works with image sizes but maybe there are a couple of other sizes that it can produce for you to link to?
I never had a flickr account. Maybe an other member can help with that.

Hi Armen,

I had a look at Flickr homepage and there appears to be a way of seeing the different sizes of images. All you have to do is copy the link to the forum as we usually do.

Here are the screenshots from that will guide you. I hope it helps.

First click on the magnifying glass image to see all sizes of the photo that you uploaded there.
Then select the size that you prefer from the menu and open it, then copy its link to the forum.

The shots look much better larger - well done to Yildiz for sorting out the Flickr question.

It is just a personal thing, but I like the B&W slightly more than the colour.

Armen- Thanks for the side by side post. I think I may like the color slightly more.. It looks like there is couple of eyes in the clouds just above the trees casting an evil sideways glance. Surreal and spooky!

By the way I forgot to mention that I have first heard about the infrared photography from one of popular infrared photographers of Armenia whose name is Alexander Khachunts. I like his photos a lot and I am modifying one of my cameras according to his advices. You can have a look to his photos at www.alsekphotoart.com website. In case of need I think I can organize our contact with him. He has modified many cameras and tried almost everything in IR photography.
