I am away from home and busy in my work. So, couldn't participate actively. Seems like there are a lot of activities going on in this forum .

Last weekend we had an outing with all of our colleagues. We played cricket on the beach. Here in India, most beaches are muddy, meaning a mix of soil and sand and not soft white sand that you see in exotic beaches. So, instead of beach volley, we play cricket(it's most popular sport in India). I was with my 70200 for long shots and 16-80 for group snaps. We reached late, and mid-day sun was not cooperative. Faces become dark and of course background water and sand were too bright.

This was my first outdoor shooting in India. I fumbled with my setting a lot, specially metering. Spot meter washed out background and evaluative/CW made faces too dark. Luckily got some shade in a road side tea-stall (You see that everywhere in India) and shot in shade with yellow sand acting as a big reflector. Some shots, hope you'll enjoy.

Some nice shots there, the second action shot - I had a nasty vision of a potential accident with those makeshift stumps.

ha ha good catch. It didn't happen though.

Ayan, those are great shots. They tell a story by themselves.
The action shots are well pictured specially the one throwing the ball (at you and saying: stop shooting us with an Alpha, don't you have a decent camera... )
The cat sneeking is great, I like it.

BTW, beautiful girl.

In the beach cricket shots, I reckon that first one is gone for sure, skied it to mid wicket, I think that second batsman had a swipe and missed, and that bowler has a nice high action.
That's a very nice looking guitar...good photo.

I tried to portray the mood in this shot. It was a calm evening with some haze in the atmosphere. Light was not good, but uniform. I wanted to capture motion blur in striking hand, which tells that he is actually playing the guitar and just not posing. But too much motion blur would have spoiled that image. After 2-3 shots I got what I wanted. May be composition wise not so great, as other colleagues were sitting just besides him, I had no room to alter the composition. Also I liked the diagonal vanishing tree line in the background. All these pretty much fixed my coordinate

I just don't understand this guy trying to hit a tennis ball with a baguette Is this a kind of crack it?

Those are outstanding adakshi ! I really like the action/cricket shots especially. Getting the ball in the shot makes each one. I also like the guitar close-up.

Bossel, I think the tennis ball thing is pretty much standard practise for social beach cricket, I don't think anyone would use a real cricket ball, it's like a cannon ball, hard and much heavier and zero bounce off sand....useless, and even dangerous if there are any kids around that happen to get hit.
