Tynemouth Castle and Priory

We had visit to Tynemouth today (Sat 20th Feb) and wandered around the Castle and Priory.
This is set on a headland that has been in use for about the last 2000 years, there is evidence of iron age villagers, Saxon and Benedictine monks, Kings of Northumberland have been buried here.
During the second world war it was part of the coastal defences and there is also a Coast Guard station at the front of the headland.
