Below are one of my first attempts in industrial photography taken last summer. I don't have many chances to take such photos so I have lot to learn in this subject.

Looks interesting Hawk, but what in tarnation is it? surely that can't be a drill rig made out wood....

I like them. the lamps are very old fashioned looking. I don't think any of that is wood. it's just yellow paint thats reached the end of it's life and is showing rust through it.

Thanks Greg and Greg. This is indeed drill rig, an old one as Javelin guessed. Its all made of steel.

Here is new shot.
It wasn’t at all pleasing straight from camera, but I thought it was good material for B&W conversion. My first idea was to create regular B&W and give it more "punch" by playing with contrast and levels. While I was working on it I tried "old photo look" treatment and was quite pleased with result. However image still didn’t have enough "punch"

I ended up with idea to create "old photo look" showing extremly dirty, oily and rusty mix of steel and wood. I hope you’ll like it.

Of course I don't mind Doc! Feel free to add more. I'm happy to see that not only I am photographing this kind of stuff

Its quite rare subject I think and thats bad because if executed smoothly it gives astonishing results.

Interesting pics Hawk and Doc. I really like the monotone shot Hawk - very nice pp I think. An industrial thread is a great idea.

As Birma says, it is a good thread. I liked the photo with old time look.
Some months back I spent some afternoons in the Chandigarh junk market called "kabari bazar". They were selling thousands of motor parts unscrewed from vehicles. Most of the sellers drove me away taking me to be a police detective. There were frantic phone calls around the market through their cells glued to their ears informing each other that a detective was on the prowl. Albeit,I did manage a few shots.
