Here are some shots during the dawn of the (Northern hemisphere) Vernal Eqiunox.







All taken with the Tamron 17-50 and the A700.

There were quite a few people out to see the dawn, I'm not sure if this was just because of the equinox. I'm not used to having to share locations . The colours were perhaps a little more subtle than I had hoped for, but it is a great spot - I like the boulder field (thanks Paul!).

I liked the third one. Also I was thinking about the difference in perspectives. The structures on the elevation can be perceived in both the cases. However, I could not understand: how much did you move to take the shot with boulders? In which direction did you move to take that shot with respect to the first shot? Were you circling around that hillock. If yes then on foot?

#3 for me as well. In first two I prefer sky from #1 but view from #2.

Agree with the above statements. I'm sure you have separate close shots of the stones.

Thanks guys. I was trying hard to get the castle ruins in the shot but it didn't work out quite as I had expected. The third shot is taken from just around the corner of the coast line in the first two. It would have been better if I had scouted out the location before the morning I visited, but these things are not always possible. There are more mornings to come though .

No close ups yet Doc - I will try harder next time .

Pity about the jet contrail in the first two, those people should've taken a boat instead. The third shot is lovely though. I love how the sharper, brighter textures fill the space.

Birma very nice set. The light on the stones on the third shot is sublime... Well done! The second set is nice and airy, a good contast to the subdued and sublte nature of the first set. I can't wait to see more! John

Some nice shots here, glad to see you are finding your way around the coastal areas - have you had Craster kippers yet fresh form the smokehouse?

Amazing boulder field photo. The light caught in the moist durfaces look amazing. (third of the first set) And I like the second set as well. I guess the weather doesn't permit for a swim but the ea does look inviting from the shots.

Thanks to John, Paul, Greg and Yildiz. Sadly I'm not keen on kippers so I have had to miss out on the famous Craster Kippers . Dunstanburgh castle is still very impressive even though ruinous. It is has a very large interior, apparently 11 acres. There are some details here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunstanburgh_Castle. Not yet seen anyone swimming, but we have been for a paddle several times in our wellies .

ps. Northumberland must be in my bones as well I think, my mother was borne in Durham, which is not far from there, her family moved to Oz when she was five.

Thanks Greg . I suppose I knew this already, but this week has really confirmed to me that the best light is before the sunrises. The early timing works well as I can pop out with the camera and take some picture, and then be back just as the rest of the household is getting up for breakfast.

Durham is just a bit south of here - fantastic cathedral, but sadly I haven't visited for years.
