Year of the Tomato Plant: Summer 2010

Hello everyone, : )

Some of you may be familiar with the fact that I have an 'accidentally' growing tomato plant in the balcony which bears nice and big tomatoes right now, ranging from red, orange to green colour depending on ripeness.

I promised that I would be baking pizzas with my first harvest, so here they are: Vegetarian and non-vegetarian pizzas, all hot and spicy and deserving a cold red wine!

Non-vegetarian, spicy pizza with pastrami, pepperoni, mushrooms, pineapple and miscellanous other ingredients. Home-made, it's not round but more 'square-rigged'.: ) Vegetarian pizza with aubergines, mushrooms, olives and some more nice things. : )

Mmmmm. You are making me feel hungry.

Yummy . Well, I know what I am going to order to eat tonight! Those are mouth-watering pictures Yildiz - I'm not sure which we should be complimenting more, your cookery skills or photography skills.

I like creativity in the kitchen and experiment with flavours and anything edible in different mixtures until something new emerges... Photography is no different I guess...

MMMMMMMMMM!! I'll have a slice of each, and a glass of wine! The only thing keeping me from hopping the next flight to Istanbul is the fact that we actually had some pretty great Italian last night!! John

Why debate. We should compliment Yildiz on both her photography skills and culinary expertise.

I really like the positioning of the wine glass reflecting the pizza. Very clever.

I could use a transparent 'glass' glass but I opted for the steel one for the convex mirror-like shiny surface, to trap more of the surroundings... for exactly the same reason you mention.

I also hoped the shiny metal surface may give me a reason to post to 'Evidence of the Photographer' thread but I'm afraid, I only appear as a an unidentifiable vertical line there!

Greg's absence crossed my mind but I promised that I would make the pizza sauce as soon as I was able to pick a cluster of red and ripened tomatoes. As soon as I had 8 available, I took the blender out of the cupboard to start with the base sauce. : ) Now I have orange-coloured ones on the plant but they are fast turning red. Incredible speed....


We'll have to arrange for a 'time-travel' session for Greg, to take him to yesteday! : )) Otherwise, I'm in big trouble!! : )

When in Antalya we were asked if we preferred to go to an Italian or Turkish restaurant, with no hesitation we decided the latter. I do like Italian, don't get me wrong but I wouldn't miss the Oriental cuisine (albeit we are in the same culinary ourselves).

And that oriental cuisine comes bearing thousands of delicious food mutual to Armenians and the Turkish with only minor changes of names or flavours! An intertwined culinary culture descending from thousands of years of history...
